It was "almost" ten times worse. Not 1,000. A 5.0 earthquake is 10x than a 4.0 earthquake.
and so forth and so on. I wasn't the only one who objected to the reporting and interpretation of those reports (reba, pfh, jiro, dixie, etc...)
