I know , been in one, also the XU1 was a great car too, my brother had a mK1, with a 186 it was capable of doing close to 140 mph, and it gets there bloody quick too. Triple Stromberg carbs, hot cam worked the magic. His XU1 was a real one, not the LC mock up.
GTHO's Phase 3's now worth ALOT of money once there was a news highlight of one being sold for AUD$1,000,000 ! This particular one was orginal condition was very low mileage (not sure what it was). The colour was white with black stripes.
I had been in XU1's numerous times, and been in one 2 years just before my freind's had it shipped to USA as he is a car collector (told him he should keep it but was the money...didnt impressed me much that). but way yeah australian muscles in the 70's were great, heard lots good things about the A9X's too worth more than XU1's but I prefer Xu1 the looks is simply true to the boy racer's dream image-wise and I like it. One day I might think about 'making a mock up' but try get as close as i can but with a 202 version, the gearbox part is going to be hassle to get this close.
