I would think that they're worse than BTEs and ITEs.
Since wearing BTEs is having microphones directly on/in your ears, you're functioning like a hearing person and sounds are coming to your hearing aids like they come to a hearing person. (No, I don't mean they make you hearing... but the concept is the same.)
However, with chest hearing aids... it's on your chest. Therefore, any sound coming from behind you would sound different than coming from in front of you. So, if you wanted to hear something better... you would have to turn your whole body to face that sound.
