You can use this with anything that needs USB connection, with some device, only one computer can access at a time, and need to be logged off before other computer can access. That applies to USB storage device. For printer, it won't be a problem sharing with other computers. I have that, and not using it anyway. I ended up bought a NAS, and throw in two HD and set RAID 1 so that I won't worry about losing data. RAID 1 requires two hard drives, they both have same files (Mirrored) on it meaning if one fails, other will still have files for me to retrieve.
