I also fail to see why you would think Obama is considered the "Messiah" by members of his party. People simply seemed to think he was the best one for for a difficult and often thankless job. I do not see anyone putting their total faith in him.

At the beginning of his administration? No. That was much, much later.
The "messiah" message came from the MSM who helped create that aura. The DNC didn't help the picture, either, like build Greek columns in Denver.

And not to mention that the MSM like Newsweek editor Evan Thomas who brought adulation and admiration over President Obama’s Cairo speech to a whole new level on Friday, declaring on MSNBC: "I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God."
Or people exclaiming that "He's been sent by God. I'm not saying he's Jesus, but he could fill Moses' shoes."

Or pictures of him in a messianic light with halos, heavenly rays, angelic features and so on.

Here's a good link that has a collection of those pictures along with collection of articles with dripping adulation in a messianic sense.
Is Barack Obama the Messiah?
And oh, who could ever forget this picure that helped shine a light that this is to be a cult business following a messianic leader starting back in 2007.

So, it's the followers of their cult hero the Obamessiah are to blame for creating that image.
Now, they are just now realizing he never walked on water and it was only a 1/2 inch deep puddle of water he was walking on.
