I forgot to mention that I called Viable tech support about this, and she said that it was probably due to the other party either turning off their VP 200 or blocking incoming calls and VPAD+ does not recognize their status. I doubt this is the sole reason because I got the same message when I tried to call back the other party right after finished talking to her, after I told her that I would do so.
A friend had the same issue that you did and he fiddled around with his VPAD+ trying to get it to work thinking it was on his end and he said when he hit the default port it changed from 14 to 06 and it started working for him again.

So that why I suggest to try it to see if it help any because it did for him.
