It's only not safe if you do it wrong.
If a woman meets a stranger through Facebook and meets him in person, then gets raped by that stranger... then it's that woman's own fault for choosing to meet a stranger.
Don't blame Facebook.
The same thing happened with MySpace, Tickle, Ringo, etc...
