A well balanced diet contains sources of protein and calcium- which come from dairy and meat, as well as a million other equally rich sources.
Test any average joe on the street, vegetarian or not, and you will probably find them deficient in at least three things. It's not about what you can eat, it's about how you balance it, and on the american diet of takeout and microwave meals, there is no balance to be found- even among 'healthy' meet eaters.
