You do not to have a hearing dog for it. Some of my Deaf friends depends on their pet dogs to respond those kinds of commotions. I remember a few of my friends said, "Why do I need a hearing dog? I have my pet dog so I can depend on it for their attention to any strange odds."

If he said that, that clearly shows it is a service dog because the dog is serving its master.
