I have used old WRT54G linksys router and installed DD-WRT firmware on the linksys router then enable wireless bridge mode which work fine for VP for me.
One wireless linksys at dsl modem and second wireless linksys at VP then both are connected to each other via wireless but you need to use DD-WRT firmware flashed on linksys router.
